The Offset Floret Stitch – Week 29 0f The 50 Stitches CAL

The offset floret stitch creates a bobble like effect for a lovely texture.

This pattern is written in US terms, but the UK translation is below.

UK Translation

Double crochet (dc) = Treble crochet

The Pattern

For this square you will need a 3.5mm hook

Start by chaining 32

Row 1. In the 4th chain from your hook (the turning chain counts as a stitch) make a dc. Dc in each stitch across – 30 stitches

Turn

Row 2. Chain 1 and make the alternate turning chain in the first stitch. Slip stitch (ss) in the next stitch *in the next stitch make a dc, then a ss in the following stitch* repeat between *and* make a dc in each of the last 2 stitches – 30 stitches

Alternate between dc and ss

Turn

Row 3. Chain 1 and make the alternate turning chain in the first stitch. Dc in each stitch across – 30 stitches

Row 4. Chain 1 and make the alternate turning chain in the first stitch. Dc in the next stitch, ss in the next stitch *in the next stitch make a dc, then a ss in the following stitch* repeat between *and* make a dc in the last stitch – 30 stitches

The offset floret stitch

Turn 

Row 5. Chain 1 and make the alternate turning chain in the first stitch. Dc in each stitch across – 30 stitches

Turn

Rows 6 – 19. Repeat rows 2-5

The Border

Along the top and bottom make a sc in each stitch

For the sides Make 2 dc in the side of each dc row and 1 sc in each floret row except for the middle floret row (row 10) where you should make 2sc.

Add an extra sc in the corners for the turn
